Frequently Asked Questions

Following are some of the most commonly asked questions we get in regards to our summer snowboard camps:

Which Airport do I fly to?

Vancouver International Airport (YVR)

What days and times should I book my ticket for?

You should book your ticket to arrive on the first day of snowboard camp before 4:00 pm. Book you return for past 10:30 am on the last day of the of camp

How do I get from the airport to Whistler?

For a small additional charge ($60 cdn), we will provide round trip transportation from the airport right to the hotel. We will meet you as you clear customs (or in the baggage claim if you are from Canada) and we will make sure you make your return flight.
Once I get to the airport how will I find the Glacier Snowboard Camp group?

We will have your travel itineraries from you before you arrive so we’ll be waiting for you with a big Glacier Camp sign, you can’t miss us. Please call us if you have any concerns about this matter. 604-935-7776

Do many campers come on their own?

Actually, most campers come on their own. With common interests like snowboarding and a friendly environment, it doesn’t take long to make good friends. Often before you even leave the airport!

If I am coming from the US is there anything special I should bring?

Yes, it is best to have a passport and a letter from your parents stating the purpose of your trip and how long you’ll be staying in Canada.

If I am driving, how will I know where to go once I get to Whistler?

A map to the Hotel will be included with the information package we will send you once we receive your registration.

How does the snowboard coaching work?

Coaching done one on one. This way you work on what you need to work on. Our smaller numbers ensures that everyone gets lots of coaching from all our coaching staff.

What level snowboarder can attend?

Because you work at your own level, any level of snowboarder, short of raw beginner (never snowboarded before), will benefit from a Glacier Snowboard Camp. If you can turn both ways and stop you are ready to come to Glacier Snowboard Camp.

What age groups attend Glacier Snowboard Camp?

All ages over 12 are welcome. We have had campers from ages 12 to 54. Most campers are from 14 to 18 years old. Adults and minors do not room together in the accommodations. You are assigned a room with people closest to your age, and rooms are assigned either girls or boys.

Do you have adults take your camps?

Yes we have many adults take our camp. Because of our individual format, they don’t feel as though they are taking a camp catering to younger campers. They can work at their own pace on the hill, and may choose to partake in different after activities, like enjoying the patio bars and night life Whistler Village has to offer.

Can you room with your friends?

Yes, you can room with your friends. Just request it in your registration.

Will accommodations be supervised?

Yes, supervision will be provided by coaches and counselors for campers under the age of 19. Supervision is 24 hour. However camper will be allowed to spend time in the village or skate park after snowboarding, as long as their counselor has been informed of their plans. Cerfew is at 10:00pm and is strictly enforced. Snowboard camp coaches and counselors will be staying in the hotel with the campers.  Please call us if you have any questions regarding supervision. What if I want to take more than one snowboard camp?

Many people choose to take more than one snowboarding camp. If you take more than one camp, for example two camps, the arrival day of the second camp is a day off snow. The accommodation and supervision between camps is provided at no additional cost.

How many days will be on snow?

6 days on snow. The first day of camp is an arrival day. People get settled in and we have a welcome party to meet everyone, let you know what is going to happen, and hand out some give aways. The next six days are on snow. Then the last day is a departure day.

What type of terrain is there?

Our snowboard camps offer a private half pipe groomed with the latest super dragon. Our pipe has been the best in Whistler for years through hard work and devotion. We also have a snowboard park with table top jumps, hips, transfers, a number a different rail slides for all levels, as well as the natural free riding around the Blackcomb glacier.

How much money should I bring to camp?

Even though all meals are included (with accommodations) and all activities are included, we recommend that you bring at least $20 per day spending money. Many of the campers like to go into the Village to get their own dinner. There is also fantastic shopping.

What equipment should I bring?

You should bring all your snowboarding gear, including winter clothes. We will send you an exact list with the information package. We have a great demo program with Burton, Prior, Salomon, Option, and Forum but you will need your own gear as well.

Whistler has a state of the art medical facility if you do get hurt and we have trained personal on hand at all times.
